Unused Lexical Variable is a Seattle based ensemble focusing on experimental composition, improvisation and collaborative performance. They explore acoustic and electroacoustic music, and with an affinity toward working with space, their performances are often characterized by silence and location, including site-specific events blurring the line between installation and performance.

As an ensemble, they were active from 2005-08, with numerous performance in and around Seattle, writing music for each other and working with other composers. In 2012, they collaborated together on a month long project at the Seattle Center.
